Appledore is a small village located in North Devon, England, with a rich nautical history that dates back to medieval times. The village is situated on the estuary of the River Torridge, which was once an important centre for shipbuilding and maritime trade.
If you are in the area and have an interest in maritime history, why not visit us? Some of our visitors have local connections that they want to explore, and we will help all we can.
We have lots of interesting exhibits for adults and children alike. Working models, films of past maritime activities, turn a ship’s wheel, tie some knots, see how a sextant was used, models of ships from the 16th century to the modern day, and lots, lots more.

Our opening times are 10:30am until 5pm.

Unfortunately, we do not accept bookings unless you are in a group.
There is a pay-and-display car park across the road from the museum.
Well-behaved dogs (and owners) are welcome in the museum.
Disabled access is limited to the ground floor only.
There is a toilet on the ground floor of the Museum.
From Barnstaple or North Cornwall, take the A39 to Bideford. At the roundabout on the Bideford side of the Torridge Bridge follow the signs to Appledore. On the descent into Appledore, turn left at the brown Museum sign. Use EX39 1PT on your GPS.
